Economic development core facility takes root in Ames
Officials broke ground recently on a new economic core facility intended to bring all Iowa State economic development service units together for better communication and effectiveness.
The facility will be located south of the existing research park, which currently harbors approximately 60 tenants, in Ames. Construction for the 49,210-square-foot building will provide meeting space and offices for approximately 100 employees. The state appropriated $12 million for its funding.
Gov. Terry Branstad and Iowa State President Steven Leath attended the ceremony at the research park, located south of the Iowa State University campus.
