Cambrex expands Charles City facility

CHARLES CITY, Iowa – Cambrex, a pharmaceutical company based in East Rutherford, New Jersey, is expanding its manufacturing operations in Charles City with a 45,000-square-foot addition.

The company expects to create 32 new jobs, according to a recent news release from the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA). The project will include warehouse space, quality control labs, internal roads and a second entrance to the plant.

The IEDA board approved $1.5 million in tax incentives for Cambrex. To receive the incentives, Cambrex will create 32 jobs that pay at least $14.93 per hour. The company plans to invest $66 million in the project.

With facilities in the U.S., Europe and India, Cambrex manufactures ingredients used in both brand name and generic pharmaceutical compounds.
