ProduceRun creates platform for online farmers markets

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — ProduceRun has developed a software platform that serves as a farmers market on the World Wide Web.

The ProduceRun website includes technology allowing farmers to upload information about their farm goods along with photos and pricing. The site provides a new way for consumers and workplaces to group-buy high quality farm goods directly while providing a new marketing channel for small farmers

Based in Cedar Rapids, the startup company was awarded a $25,000 grant by the Iowa Economic Development Authority from the Proof of Commercial Relevancy Fund. The grant will provide for farmer outreach, marketing and website maintenance and development. The fund is designed to assist businesses with new technologies that have been proven in concept and are ready to be developed as marketable products.
